- Has just arrived in London; many thanks for the civilities shown her in France. Delivered John Jay's letter into Mr. Johnston's hand. Went into the city in search of Miss Laurens but heard they had already left for France, and she would see them no more. Hopes Sarah Livingston Jay's nursing of the new baby (Nancy) goes well. Had a lovely passage from France. Her son John just arrived in New York after a passage of seven weeks. The ship hit something not twenty leagues from their destination, and will be lost. He is on his way to Philadelphia. Inquiries after Mrs. Ridley, Mrs. Montgomery and Mrs. Barclay.
