- Encloses a copy of William Duane's letter to him of 16 March 1821, Philadelphia. Concerning some note in the fifth volume of the works of Franklin, he is in possession of two very short but authentic journals of John Jay and John Adams. Revelation of the source of the papers would be a violation of confidence, but such a disclosure would be proof of their authenticity. John Jay requests the result of Adams' reflections on this letter.
