- Summary
- Mere election of a bishop by the Episcopal clergy will not create him a bishop according to the Apostolic constitution of the Church of England. Laying on of hands is required, and it is for this reason that he was anxious that the American bishop be installed by English bishops. A discussion of the reasons why the "non-juring" bishops of Scotland cannot have installed Samuel Seabury as American bishop. Thanks him for description of abridged Book of Common Prayer, which he agrees is too abridged.
