Summary
Devotes letter to bills presented to Carmichael and Jay on 19th of August and 26th of September, and to some copies Jay had his brother-in-law make of a conference he had with Floridablanca. Carmichael says the notes he wrote and used by Jay's brother-in-law were incomplete and in very rough form and should never have been copied. Requests return of the notes and says that whenever Jay wants any copies made of conferences, etc. to send to Congress he will be glad to make them. He ends: "You will pardon my solicitude on this head, when you reflect on the example you gave me of your own attention to method and correctness."
