- Not unusual that the mortification and defeat of England should ill dispose her to reconciliation. The U.S. begins to see necessity for strengthening the federal government. Congress is generally respectable in its temper. Kentucky: threatened by Indian war rumored to be encouraged by Spain The settlement grows rapidly. Jay did not buy a suit which was considered unfashionable at Rouen.
