- News of various servants. Frank has deserted from VerplanckÆs Point and went home with a pass from General Heath. He saw Gussy (Augustus) Cortlandt on Long Island and all was well. He saw JamesÆ Kingston going on board a privateer. Claas (John JayÆs servant) lives with Parson Inglis in New York and if the parson is honest, John Jay can get Claas back again. Abraham D. Peyster is captain of a company of soldiers with whom Frank traveled. Has heard New York has much sickness.
