- United States--History--Revolution, 1775-1783; Jay, John, 1745-1829
- Summary:
- Did not expect that Jay could not accept some of the bills. Have accepted them all so far. Would like to open a loan here but at present the loss of Charlestown is against it. Since even a small sum would at this critical moment preserve the credit of Congress, it is suggested that both Jay and Franklin should obtain bankers from which loans could be obtained. As soon as Laurens arrives, better arrangements can be made.
