- Camathen voiced an opinion generally held, that the new constitution qualifies America for negotiations for a commercial treaty. In preparing for departure Adams has been treated with the same "uniform tenor of dry decency and cold civility" he has experienced since his arrival. French ambassadors receive humiliations at Court. Possibility of war discussed.
