- Summary
- Richard Harrison bought the prize clothing at Cadiz in order to send it to America, where it would be very welcome, and drew a bill on Jay for $20,000 as part of the purchase money. The commissioners insisted on immediate payment, so there was no opportunity to inform Floridablanca of it in advance. The house of Mr. Cabarrus has offered to advance to Jay for such payments as much as Floridablanca will permit and to pass credit for it to Floridablanca. Jay would like to have Floridablanca's directions on the matter. Autograph letter signed and Spanish translation.
