- Summary
- John Jay congratulates Washington on Virginia's adoption of the constitution. The unanimity of the South in its favor may help to dispel some of the opposition in New York. Continuing on 6 July, John Jay reports that on 4 July there was a fight between adherents of the two parties in which nearly thirty people were wounded. However, John Jay has heard that the party opposed to the constitution has begun to divide. Typescript.
