- Summary
- Jay's friendship cannot be gauged by the length of the letters he writes as he is so busy with public concerns. Wishes he could see Deane for a talk. Convinced that their regard for each other is unchanged. Spain wants the Mississippi and does little. We may get a loan from her and some clothing. America's situation is serious but still thinks it will turn out well. We must never deviate from an honest position. God governs the world and we have nothing to do along our journey through life but our duty. We should enjoy prosperity and be patient in adversity.
