- Summary
- Received her sister Catherine's Livingston (Kitty's) letter with pleasure, but must decline her proposal for now. Has heard of continuing illness of Sarah Livingston Jay with pain; wishes her a speedy recovery. Hopes she can visit them at Rye with her little boy, but fears she cannot travel in safety during these times. If men of war should enter the Sound, as they are expected too, will move the family away from the water; has hired rooms 3 miles inland and plans on moving valuable things elsewhere. The situation is very unsettled. Has heard Johnny was well and left Poughkeepsie for Connecticut, but does not know where. Anne Van Horn visited from Fairfield.
