- Summary
- Asks Jay to Deliver the enclosed letter to Mr. Auchmuty immediately. There is much talk in town that James Jay should have given the Governors of [King's] College an explanation why he has permitted their bills to be returned protested. Both James and the Governors share the blame for this. Asks Jay to study the rough draft of the letter to Auchmuty and make himself "master of the affair" so that he will be able to vindicate his brother's character, which is now doubtless "pretty roughly handled."
