- Summary
- Is glad Kitty's (Catherine Livingston) health is recovered; wishes he could say the same for Ridley and Essex. Discusses the "evil of ingratitude, for which there is no remedy but patience and consciousness of rectitude." Although, as she has said, they live in a "checquered scene," (Ridley) should remember the "fair embellishment" newly introduced into his life. Quotes a passage from the governor praising the Ridleys, their boy Essex and Peter Jay. Sally and the little ones are well, including Maria in Elizabeth. Mrs. Watkins is often sick, but Susan knows more about it than he.
