United States--History--Revolution, 1775-1783; Jay, John, 1745-1829
Summary
Happy to have the opportunity to write, not merely for his own happiness,
but because it gives Sarah Livingston Jay pleasure to hear of his welfare. Arrived in
Philadelphia the day after he left her, but with low spirits because of her anxiety at
his leaving. Is now resigned to his position, believing himself to have a greater
allotment of happiness than most. Wishes to hear from her and begs her to stay in good
spirits and health
