- Summary
- Has been so busy since return, unable to write letters to friends, but now will hopefully devote 1-2 hours a day to correspondence. Thanks for indignation about virulent publication against Jay "by an unworthy young man." Thanks also for drawing of machine for watering roads. Streets so encumbered by lumber for rebuilding burned houses that unlikely will water them any time soon. No public walks as yet; plan for planting the battery and ground near St. Paul's church. Will gladly give son Benjamin journals to complete the lot. Letter from son Samuel about job in the mint; with current state of affairs probably would be delayed.
