- She asks Jay's friendly interposition and influence on behalf of her family and recounts in detail their recent difficulties in trying to change their residence to a healthier climate for her ailing brother. She particularly requests that Jay write a note to General Gates, if he thinks it will do any good, requesting that the Bayards be allowed to pass beyond Ludlow's Landing and not be forced to remain for another eight or more days abroad the sloop on which they have been travelling from Fish Kill to Poughkeepsie and lately to Ludlow's Landing.
