- Summary
- He hopes that the passage of five years has not caused Jay to forget Marbois and that he bestowed many kindnesses on Marbois. He hopes very much that he will be dealing with Jay (as Secretary of State) and is impatient to learn if Jay has accepted the appointment. He assures him that his appointment by Congress is universally and generally approved. The arrival of Luzerne's successor will end his functions and perhaps his stay in the United States. Sends his regards to Mrs. Jay and says that Mme. Marbois would very much like to meet and know Mrs. Jay.
