- Summary
- In his opinion, the office of provost of Columbia College should be discontinued; the president of the College should be so in fact as well as in name and be allowed an ample salary. His appointment as a professor deserves careful consideration. The controversy which resulted in the termination of his connection with Trinity Church produced adverse feelings. Therefore, if his nomination would revive hostility it should not be risked.
