Summary
Has read his proposals for "a grand national Institution." Does not know
if the public would give competent support to such a comprehensive institution, nor if
provision can be made for ably doing the business assigned to each of its departments.
Does not think it advisable at his time of life to enter into a contract such as the
proposed one. From a desire to promote literary pursuits he will subscribe to those
which are well conducted and calculated to do good.
