- Summary
- Is pleased that his remarks on passages in the first volume of Botta's History were approved by Adams and Jefferson. Has since doubted the accuracy of passages in that and subsequent volumes but the state of his health will not permit him to make the necessary inquiries and research. An estimate of the information in this history requires careful examination and should be undertaken as soon as possible. Time will make it more and more difficult to find and correct mistakes.
