- Summary
- Visit to Sir John Sinclair and Colonel Bentham. Work of the Agricultural Society. Sinclair showed them stuffed sheep of different breeds. Information about sheep breeds & husbandry. The King patronizes husbandry and is himself a great farmer. Colonel Bentham showed them a model of his Panopticon. He has invented many useful machines which will be displayed in it, including specialized saws for making wheels and devices for other types of woodwork. Jay spent last week with Governor Hunter of Norfolk Island, who spoke of the Island's black swans and wild flax. Jay ends: "want of time represses my curiosity and will not allow me to pay much attention to objects unconnected with those of my mission."
