- Summary
- A letter in Spanish from the servant's wife, informing Manuel that money advanced to her by Carmichael was not on Jay's order, but out of Carmichael's generosity. Further, Carmichael stated he was scandalized at the treatment of Manuel by Mrs. Jay. Translation by John Jay in his letter to Carmichael, 24 April 1784. On this copy there is a note by Peter Jay Munro, 19 April 1784, certifying that the copy was made by Manuel from the original and that the copy is true and exact.
