Summary:
Is endeavoring to procure an admission to West Point for his nephew, Peter Fell. The latter's great-grandfather, Judge John Fell, was a member of Congress from New Jersey at the time of John Jay's presidency and appointment to Spain. He records in his journal of their having dined together repeatedly. Judge Fell was later seized by an armed force in Paramus and was imprisoned at York for nine months. His son, Colonel Peter R. Fell, died of sufferings encountered during the Revolution. Has collected testimonials from those who knew both men, and would appreciate a statement from Jay that he recollects them. Though not known to him, Rhind is a personal acquaintance of Peter Augustus Jay.
