- Summary
- Has recently been examining the documents in his possession belonging to his father, Joseph Reed, who participated in the most interesting events of the Revolution. Thinks a memoir of his life would be well received. On his father's arrival in 1784 he wrote to the American Commissioners on the Continent and received friendly replies from Jay, Adams, and Laurens. Encloses copy of John Jay's letter, 20 February 1784, and requests the loan of any letters from his father which will be immediately returned. Wishes to know if they corresponded regularly during the Revolution.
