- Summary
- Hopes that New York's Vermont claims will not be ceded without an assurance that her western land claims will be acknowledged. The experience should teach New Yorkers how little the schemes of land jobbers are in accord with the public interest. Cannot venture an opinion on the wisdom and necessity of acknowledging the independence of Vermont. The recent campaigns on the western frontier were so successful for the enemy that some neglect must be responsible for the failure to make better preparations for frontier defense. Draft; probably incomplete.
