- Summary
- Dr. Drummond may have an "internal sense of propriety on his doubts and scruples' but otherwise John Jay finds (his attitude) unaccountable. Has been working on the legacy to his father, Peter Jay. Mr. Benson had to leave town with the business unfinished. He gave up on the idea of dividing the money in England; will send a letter of attorney to Mr. Daltera. Is willing to let him try the plan although fears that nothing less than letters of administration will do. Has seen Van Schaack's son and finds him promising. Hopes that by the next session the necessity of Van Schaack's absence will disappear.
