- Summary
- Sends him a pamphlet by John Lowell, son of the late Judge John Lowell, containing his review of George Hay's work on expatriation. The younger Lowell is a controversial political figure, having championed his country's rights during "the misrule of the second and third successors of Washington." He embraces all subjects of public interest, and recently routed a board of ambitious clergymen who attempted to introduce ecclesiastical government into Massachusetts Congregational Churches. John Jay will soon have an opportunity to read his address given before the assembly at the cattle show at Brighton. Also sending William Jay materials on agricultural societies' activities.
