- Summary
- Is sending dispatches from our ministers at Ghent, their instructions, and the statement of the new Secretary of the Treasury. While the proposition concerning our Indian boundary was declared a sine qua non, the boundary itself needed modification. Does not object to it as we are to relinquish only our right of pre-emption to the Indians. Believes that the British propositions might have terminated in peace, had they contained less pride in rulers and ministers and less hatred toward Great Britain.
