- Summary
- Has received a letter from the house of Messrs. Fox at Falmouth mentioning the death of the American consul, Robert Were Fox, and asking John Jay to recommend the agent's son as successor. If the business has been well managed, it seems probable to expect a continuance under the same administration. Desires to abstain from interference in matters of this kind, but has decided to write these lines in view of the confidence by the firm in his friendliness.
