- Committee of Federal Freeholders of the City of New York, they commend Jay for his numerous services to the State and nation and enclose their resolutions concerning the nomination of Stephen Van Rensselaer for Governor (see 13 Jan. 1801). Jay's administration as Governor has been free from blemishes and his detractors are stopped from adverse comments thereon. Posterity will hail Jay for his execution of the office.
