- Summary
- Hopes America can attain dignity, power, and public confidence. Hopes America can get access to the port of New Orleans. Does not think there will be any war in Europe this year. Jay knows Lafayette's wishes on the introduction of American flour into the West Indies. We must however hold onto the gains already obtained because many merchants are clamoring against it and say that England Has all the American trade without making any concessions.
