Summary
Bad weather prevented the arrival of ships from America; now his anxiety is relieved. Believes the removal of Plato from the family is a good thing; he was getting too mischievous. Wants to hear from Maria, and if she still likes her school in Bethlehem. He and his father will set out for a little expedition tomorrow; although the treaty is finished, John Jay still has numerous obligations and applications for his attention. Except for rheumatism, he is very healthy. Is sorry to learn that Mr. Pinckney will leave them. Mrs. Mallet and Mrs. Low ask to be remembered to Sarah Livingston Jay. Mr. and Mrs. Church might leave for New York. Mr. Warburton (formerly Mr. Monkton) now has the deanery and is chaplain to the Lord Lieutenant of Zeland.
