- Summary
- Dispute between Emperor and his subjects in Brabant is now settled. Prussia and England acted in concert concerning Holland. The abandonment of Utrecht has thrown the Dutch people into a general panic. All the provinces except the city of Amsterdam have capitulated. France and England are maneuvering toward war, and the sentiment for war grows daily in France. If they go to war, will Britain long respect an American neutrality? The treaty with France will expose America to charges of partiality.
