- Summary
- Incomplete copy of document 5595. Autograph Letter signed. Encloses two letters, one from Adams concerning the proposed mediation and the other from some merchants who possess Congressional drafts of a late date. Franklin has written that he can give no expectation of their being paid, as he promised Vergennes he would pay no drafts made after April 1. Adams is ill. Suggest that they meet. Could not Jay come to Paris or at least to Bordeaux?
