- Summary
- Packet not delivered to Chiappi because Morris' agent fears Chiappi may be one of those cut off with the new Emperor. Is holding dispatches for Chiappe in Morocco until results of the succession there are known. Chiappe may now be out of favor and useless to the United States as an agent. Crown is in question in Morocco and succession will probably be decided by arms. If present occupant succeeds in holding throne, he will undo all the good his father accomplished before him and directly reverse all the old King's policies. Jefferson Papers.
