- Summary
- Letterbook copy. Acknowledges Jay's letters of June 3 and duplicate of October 20. Particularly grateful for "wise reflexions and Councils" in the October letter. Trumbull's expectations of delicacy of task as Commissioner fulfilled--indeed, finds task even more difficult than expected. Hopes Lord Malmsbury's negotiations with French Commissioners at Lisle will meet with success. Looks "with anxiety" for "proceedings of our councils" and hopes that joint Commissioners can succeed in "averting from our Country, once more, the worst of Evils." See also documents 7208 and 12819.
