- Complains of his plight as prisoner of war on board H.M.S. Rose. He and son kidnapped from their Georgia home and transported hence by various British ships. Asks for any aid which Congress may be able to offer him. On back of letter is memorandum of Jno. Beatty, 31 March 1779, informing the President of Congress that Mr. Bryan has been supplied with 40 pounds New York currency for his needs.
