- Summary
- Jay sends Hamilton copies of his letter from Jacob Cuyler (3 August 1791) and his reply to Cuyler of 10 September. Cuyler writes to ask Jay's help in obtaining a job in the United States Treasury Department for his son. Jay's reply promises that he will forward the request to Hamilton, and Jay reminds Hamilton that the Cuylers' circumstances mean that "a little will to him be much" and asks the Treasury Secretary to write Cuyler even if no job can be offered.
