Summary
Livesey says that he has known several inhabitants of land southward of Devon Kill for twenty years or longer. About thirty years ago he was Assessor for the Hackensack Precinct, and to the best of his remembrance, assessed inhabitants to the south of the Devon [Divans] Kill. He always heard that these inhabitants held their lands under New Jersey. He does not remember ever having heard that New Jersey. He does not remember ever having heard that New York ever claimed title to these lands. Signed, Robert Livesey. In Jay's hand.
