Summary
Is sorry for anxiety caused over the "Affair on the Battery." A meeting of the officers of the brigade was held on the proposed nomination of persons to captains' commissions who are now in the ranks. The measure to appoint a committee to remonstrate to the Council of Appointment was opposed as being an interference with the authority of the governor. A company of Democrats is forming in the sixth Ward and now numbers about 40. The old Regiment has less than 1/3 its complement because it is commanded by Jacobinical officers. Peter was yesterday admitted as an attorney of the Supreme Court; the examination for the Mayor's Court might interfere with his plans to go to Albany.
