- Samuel Clarke disappointed in selling his cheese but bought (Ann) winter butter where General Clarkson buys his. Description of Susan Bayard's wedding and her attendants, one of whom, Mr. Campbell, is courting Kitty Bayard. Mr. Rutherford came to New York and will bring down (the new) Mrs. Rutherford. Tired of all these ceremonies. Saw Susan Ridley and heard that Mrs. Judith Watkins is planning a visit to Bedford, but knows nothing of the details. Asks John Jay to send information about the land they held in Jay, Vermont, that Mr. Whitelaw divided among different proprietors. Sent Mr. Munro with flowers for Ann. Has heard from Maria that William is doing very well in Albany and studies continuously. Hopes he does not neglect his manners and friends.
