- Copy. Floridablanca informed John Jay before he left Madrid that the papers relating to the treaty and authority and instructions to treat had been sent to Aranda. John Jay arrived in Paris on 28 June, and is ready to begin preliminary conferences at whatever time and place Aranda may think proper. John Jay hopes that negotiations will be conducted in a way agreeable to both countries, and assures Aranda of his good will.
