Summary
The act providing for the payment of large sums of money claimed as debts by the issuance of bills of credit to be sunk by continuing the excise on strong liquors after the expiration of its term will be of fatal consequences to the hitherto thriving commerce of New York. Signed by eighteen substantial citizens of New York, among them Augustus Jay and Philip Van Cortlandt. Enclosed in a letter from the Council of Trade of 4 June 1719, which is in the Council Office, New York. Entered before the Commission to Settle the Boundary between New York and New Jersey 2 August 1769.
