- Summary
- Acknowledges receipt of 13 December. A purchaser for the Kerney's farm has appeared but John Jay told him that he could give no information before writing to his son. The alley next to the stone house makes it worth more than Mr. Slidell and others wish to pay, so John Jay has decided not to sell. The Furnace lot may be sold at the prince Peter mentions. John Jay hopes to receive information from his son concerning the lot Mr. Foote wishes to purchase. Maria is taking the medicine Peter sent. She feels some improvement, although her stomach and nerves are still in a sad state. Sally too is not well. Peter was lucky to be able to plant the wild pear trees so late in the season. Topsoil and manure will insure and accelerate their growth.
