- Summary
- Delivers good news to John Jay concerning the assurance received that the Governor of Havana would help in the reduction of Florida. If this happens, Morris believes that the British might lose all their island possessions. If John Jay could send as a squadron of twelve ships with sixty guns, New York could be captured. Then Halifax, Newfoundland, and perhaps Canada would also fall. Florida may fall, and perhaps all the British Islands. Although continental currency is increasing in value, European money is still much necessary needed. Morris thinks that soon both the United States and Britain will want peace.
