Summary
In a letter written a few days before, John Jay enclosed a copy of proposals concerning the method of adopting the Constitution in New York, but because of great objections, it was withdrawn from consideration for an indefinite period. At present debates on the wording of the constitution are in progress in the New York legislature. But if nothing new should occur, New York will probably adopt the constitution unconditionally.
