- Summary
- John Jay again acknowledges receipt of 23 February. The arrival of enemy reinforcements in New York seems to indicate wither a movement southward, or action in Washington's own area. In one of the English papers enclosed there visa copy of the "Family Compact between the Branches of the House of Bourbon. As it explains the political Connection between France & Spain, I think it interesting." John Jay has heard nothing from General Lincoln, but has received are port that a ship laden with military stores for South Carolina was taken.Enclosures: [before 2 March 1779], several unnamed English newspapers.
