Summary
Acknowledges receipt of 25 September. John Jay is glad that Peter attended to the collection of the rents. He is thinking of erecting another house similar to the three already standing on the pasture lots "in order that there may be one for each of you." Maria and Sarah are still not quite well, Mary and Anna Maria are in good health, John Jay and the others are neither well nor ill. Mary, the children, and Nancy just arrived from Rye, where they left their aunt feeling better. John Jay hopes that John "will commence and prosecute his Studies in College with Reputation."
