Denounces recent mob action in New York City, which burned a copy of the Treaty. Invites Jay and his family to visit Duanesburgh if going to Albany. Has ordered Mr. Bowers to pay sum to John Jay, being interest on bonds in the Chambers estate. Describes dispute he has with Dr. Livingston and Dr. Jones over estate of Philip Livingston. Both sides have chosen arbitrators. Asks Jay to read over a description of the dispute. If John Jay thinks Duane's opinion has merit, would he forward the copy to his arbitrator? If the other side, in Jay's view, has the greater merit, Duane will drop the matter.
